Default 2015 Softail Slim does not show Engine Temp?

On the OEM gauge? The only way is to upgrade the gauge cluster?

Thanks,

Digital gauge too expensive, is there a cheaper way to display the cylinder head temp? The sender is already there, right?

I don't know where that data can be intercepted at. Maybe check the wiring schematic. My guess is that it ends up at the ECU since tuners like the FP3 and the like can display it

I would not mess with the engine temp sender or it's wiring. That is used by the ECM for various adjustments. If you were to affect it's reading, you will affect the performance of your bike. The best way for extra gauges, unfortunately is not the cheap way. As mentioned above, many use their PowerVision tuner as auxiliary gauges..

The digital temp oil dipsticks have had some bad reviews over the years. Many fail early. There are numerous choices these days, so there is possibly a good one out there. Sorry but I have no recommendations for a good one. I would suggest getting one with a big enough display that you can see at a glance...

I have had one of the analog oil temp dipsticks, bought back around 2003, and it lasted for many years. It was small and hard to read. Certainly not a quick glance while riding type of gauge. It was more of a check when stopped gauge. I have bought another one since and not had as good luck with that one...

IMHO... I have stopped worrying about oil temps for many years now.

I take precautions for heat... I run good synthetic oil and change it on schedule. I have installed a set of Jason's fans (sadly no longer available). I have made sure I have a good tune on my bikes.

Now I just ride...

The bikes with ECMs will tell you when they get hot. They will pull timing and run sluggish. I experienced that only one time, in Laughlin Nevada in 118° temps. I rode easy to my destination and the casino had a parking garage (covered from sun). Next morning the bike fired right up and has not suffered any ill affects since that time. If I had been mid trip and/or in stop & go traffic, I would have found a place to stop for both of us to cool off...

I know knowledge is a good thing, but I think we all get distracted by minutia sometimes.. Just sharing an opinion...

Good luck with your decision on which gauge to get...
