06 Deluxe EFI
I called from Iraq to my dealership yesterday to setup a delivery date along with installation of Big Shot Staggered, Stage 1 Kit, and the Harley download on my Deluxe. I was told by one woman that downloads aren't done on the 06 EFI bikes. Another guy told me he really didn't know and to call back. The woman actually told me that I had to get the Power Commander since the downloads aren't done on the 06 EFIs
The last I heard, the '06 downloads were not out yet, but they were coming. I've also seen a lot of folks on the forum who were dissatisfied with HD downloads from previous years. Seems like the '06 downloads were going to be ready first part of the year, but don't have anything other than memory to back that up.
I had the download on my 06, but my bike was still lean. i was told that HD leaned the 06 bikes out more to meet emissions. i now have the HD race tuner. MUCH BETTER spend the extra $ and buy the Race tuner. you won't regret it.
At this point i think you would be better off getting a power commander or equivelant unit, that way you know it was done right and your way, not the EPA's way. You could have the rest of you stage one done when you pick'er up and then throw your power commander in when you gett'er home, from what i hear its simple to install with downloadable settings for your bike and pipe set up.

I just installed a Power Commander on my bike. Not too bad, had to slide ecm tray lip under fender. Download map with a laptop and usb. You will need a 9 volt battery to power the Commander. I used M805-212 with k&n and VnH Bigshots long on a '06 FLSTCI.
Below is the email I received from Harley of Fayetteville, N.C. Basically, he's saying that there is a download but they haven't had much luck with it and the PC is better.
Hey Mo,
I would tell them to deliver your bike to us ASAP. The parts you want are all in-stock items except quiet baffles because no one has ordered them before. Personally, I would ride bike with the pipes as they come, then if it's not to your likening order the quiet baffles.
1- V&H Big Shot Staggered (V17907) retail $574.95
w/ 2-quiet baffles (V21869) retail $29.95 each
1- Screamin Eagle Stage 1 (29773-02B) retail $139.95
1- Power Commander (1020-0003) retail $359.95
In regards to the download, we have not had much luck downloading H-D's 2006 EFI downloads with aftermarket pipes. Besides the PC is a much better product. It will make your bike run more fuel efficient, cooler and re-maps the full range of the throttle unlike a download.
Total parts $1092.74 (this price is for above 5 parts includes tax and a discount of 10% for new bike purchase has been applied)
Estimate on labor $228
The parts would need to be paid for before the work order is started but labor can be paid upon delivery of bike to you. Credit card is fine. Call me or e-mail with questions.
Thanks again for everything you do,

Just an aside about the quiet baffles...I installed V&H on my Sporty. I had ordered the quiet baffle as well, but I ran without for a bit on the first day, just to have a comparison. Then I put them in. Easy process, you can do it yourself without a great deal of hassle.
That being said, if you go with PCIII or equivalent, you'll want the pipes in their final configuration when they tune it. The quiet baffles have an excellent sound, they cut out the harsh bark some, and tone it down just enough so you're not scaring the dogs... I like 'em and I recommend 'em.
