Want to put a 16" wheel in the front of my 07 Night Train, issues are...1)is there a 16" wheel from another model that wheel bolt straight in or would I be better off getting my stock hub relaced with the smaller rim?2) does anyone know if the factory can supply stock paint(black pearl) to re-paint the replacement front fender, have a buddy that can paint it but he says he may not be able to match the colour and it seems a shame to paint the whole bike when theres nothing wrong with it.
If anyone hasalready done this conversion would love to see some pics and any advice is always welcome.
This is a fairly common conversion. If you search, there are quite a few threads about various ways folks have done this. As you can see, mine has a 16", but I also have a Storz fork with dual discs. Even then, Black Bike in SoCal hooked me up with the wheels no problem. The front was a bolt-on 100%.
You should be able to bolt on a wheel from a Fatboy or Heritage of the same years. You may or may not have to re-space it though. Not sure if the Fatboy/Heritage frontends are the same width as a Wide Glide.
My conversion....you need to make sure you get a wheel
with a 1" axle rather then the 3/4" mine used...
You should have no problem getting the paint from your local HD, but will cost ya...about $100 for a quart if I remember right.
I orginally bought a fat boy disc wheel for my FXST. Spacers were required and my wrencher put Progressive shocks on the bike to lower it a tad to even it out. Other than that, it was a done deal.
I agree, If you are going for the looks only and like the look, a bigger rim is all the rage (18"/21"/26", everyone has them). If you want the ride, 16". The cushion you get with a larger sidewall is great. Ride or stay on the porch.

I hate to go off subject here, but how do you like those forks?
