RE: Installed Screamin' Eagle Slipons for 07 Heritage
No SERT yet ... Just the Street legal 07 Stage 1 Download and Street Legal Slip on's along with the SE A/C... Bike runs Perfect,, Good throttle response and consistant..at all ranges and around 220 deg in the City traffic.. Was 250/260 before down load and such.. Mobil 1 20w X 50w also helped... I've never been a fan of any H.D. Stage ? down load, but this bike is my early morning everyday bike and gonna keep the motor stock... It's a pleasure to ride with what was done... As I mentioned the Slip On's do get louder,, they sound good to me now...And I'm a Reinhartand ThunderHeader Fan .. Ihave them on all ofmy other Bikes..If I want to make some noise I take another bike out of the barn.. Good luck
RE: Installed Screamin' Eagle Slipons for 07 Heritage
Just the pipe install has netted me about 10 to 12 degrees cooler on the external engine head temperature. Here's how I came to that conclusion.
First, I read the American Rider article a few months ago where a reader had used an infrared system to measure engine head temperatures. He had reported 335 to 390 range (rear head). The highest was an Ultra. In my testing I used an oven thermomteter from one of the laboratories in our chemistry department. It normally is used to measure kiln temperatures to 500, so I figured this was a pretty good source.
I simply put the thermometer on the back engine head when hot. The first time I did it was in mid-September when the ambiant temperature was over 95. The measuring point of the device was touching the head top between fins. Temperature jumped to over 325 pretty quickly, so I figured that an infrared device would have registered close to the American Rider findings.
My need was to find a baseline for measuring the temperature as I do my isntalls. I tested the temperature twice more. Once was at 80 degrees outside temperature (engine head hovering over 320) and again the day before the install at 74 degrees (engine head still at 322).
I then installed the pipes. I rode the bike for about 10 miles, some of that on the freeway at 70+ mph, and then measured again. This time engine head temp hit 312. I rode home, tested again, and got 313. That suggests a total loss of 12 degrees (on an average).
I'm installing a Cobra Fi2000R next weekend, assuming the weather holds up, and reports are this will lower temperatures another 15 to 2+ degrees. On Friday I'm changing oil to synthetic, whcih should lower temperature a bit as well. Everything I'm reading says I should see 25 to 30+ total degrees cooler with these changes.

I have about 1200 miles on my 07 Heritage and been thinking it's time to change out the exhaust. Thanks for the post and write-up on the install. The mufflers will be on order in the next day or so.

I put them on my 07 heritage and wouldn't advise wasting your money on them. I didn't think they sounded that much different from stock.I found the instructions for removing the fiberglass packing, on this site, and that made them sound ok. Not as nice as my wifes dyna with se2's but ok.
