I have the bar on an '06 FLSTCI. I am 6' and can rest my legs on them ok. The only problem is that after awhile my legs start to slide off to the left and right. I am going to put the 360 degree adjustable highway pegs on the bar soon though. I like the look of the bar, but I also feel they are not very functional. The only other think I like about the bar is the ability to put one for or the other directly on the bar (flatfoot) so that I can change my riding position a little. Ill put a foot up on the rubber stops and rest an elbow on my knee or something to change it up. Other than that, these bars are purely cosmetic.
If your a shorter rider and wish to put highway pegs on your engine guard you can get peg offsets from kuryakyn That way you can make them closer to you and put them in any position you want and still remain comfortable.
I'm 5'9" w/30" inseam. Put the Lindby moustache bar with the built in top foot reston my Low Rider. No reach problems, very comfortable. Will be adding highway pegs to that set up. Like the adjustable set up that sonar posted. Set I have now may be too wide, but will experiment with the angle in first.
picked up the moustache bar at http://www.fshd.com/
today, big weekend sale . 20% off all in stock Merchandise in stock !!! Picked up a iol temp guage too. and fluids to do my frirst 1000 mile service.
I don't reach mine comfortably . Gonna put some pegs off the guard, slanted back .
This is what I have done and am very happy with the outcome and utility. The rubber foot pads that came built-in with my guard are for looks only. My legs aren't bo-legged enough to get around the fuel tank to reach the built-in flat spots on mustache.
Mine was a different part number for the Fatboy (I think), has slightly different look (more like Kuryakyn's).
bought the bar. not on yet . been riding to much !!
I have the moustache's on mine. Went back and forth between them and the standard type. I wasn't sure I liked the look or if they would be useful as footrests. Poorboys setup convinced meshowed me that I could always add footrests if needed.
May come to that since I rarely use the included footrests. I can reach them fine though even at 5'8, so you shouldn't have a problem with that. Maybe they're too high for comfort or maybe I'm just not a foot rest kind of guy. We'll see when I get into some long rides.
