Default What's that part called?

On the left foot side, right under the seat and to the right of the distributor coil. There is a decent sized painted piece. It matches the oil tank fill on the right foot side. I've seen it painted on some bikes, and chrome on others. I scratched mine and want to replace it, but don't know what to look for... What's it called?

Are you talking about the oil tank? It is horseshoe shaped and wraps from one side of the bike to the other. If you remove the seat, you'll see the battery sits in a cut out area behind the tank.

That's the left side of your oil tank.

That is the Fetzer Valve. Don't forget to get some new ball bearings as everything is ball bearings these days.

Seriously, yes it is. Dyna's have the oil tank on one side and the battery on the other
Softails have a nice symetrical horseshoe tank that hides the battery inside it.
If you want to replace it. Get a manual, cause getting it out isn't like pulling the plugs out.
