To start with you will need your pictures on the web somewhere.

That's not necessarily so. I don't have a photo account anywhere but post pics in my posts. When you click download pics, just browse to your location on your hard drive and select the pics and click embed in post. The only restriction is that all the pics in a single post must be less than 500kB. I usually either take the pics at 640x480 or shrink them to that size and that way you can upload several pics.
