Default Slash down or out?

I've got an "06" Deluxe. Can't decide which to get. Screaming Eagle slash down or slash out? Anyone have em? What's you're opinion?

Slash out, or balogna cut. I like them because you can see the inside of the pipes. Slash down are supposed to be a bit quieter because they are pointed downward to deflect the noise, but I can't confirm that.

Forget the Harley pipes. Get the Rush with 1.75 baffles. Look at other bikes to decide what you like. I saw a Screamin Eagle with the pipes I got from rush and chose the slash down andI used the stock heat shields.

I agree slash down.
The best sound will be Rush slip ons.
You can vary the loudness pretty easy changing baffles, I had the 2 1/4" and was a little too loud for me (but great sound).

When we were testing various 'slip on mufflers' on my 2003 FatBoy the best results came with the old style SE2 pipes without the crossover pipe.

These mufflers came in both styles, with 80344-00 being the slash down model, and 80354-00 being the side slash that I prefer (shown in below picture)..

In fact, last year I found a dealer that was closing out their old inventory, and they had 3 sets of the 80354-00 still available, at $99 a set. I purchased all 3 sets just to have a few extra on hand.

Here is a short 15 second video I recently made of the FatBoy at idle with the old style SE2 'slash out' mufflers installed. (With the removeable baffles installed).

This was done with an old crappy Sony digital camera, with a very small built in mic, so you can't get the full impact of how these actually sound. But they have a nice, deep, mellow sound at idle, and really 'bark' once you open up the throttle.

I was running a set of the old SEII slash out, they sounded great and the bike ran well with them. I eventually changed to the SE 16ga, basically because I liked the look. But I cant help but think that the bike ran better with the SEII slash out, may have been due to the muffler size difference. I even tried the SEII Pro Torque Fit...........but they didnt do much for me. In the end, I think that pipes are a personal choice.............what suits you as far as looks, sound and performance.
