Default Lowering Softail

I want to lower my 06 Deluxe and need help in determining what brand, DIY instruction , air shocks or lowering bolts and spring. I recently replace my OEM seat with Corbin Close Solo but I need to lower more about an inch or two. Thanks for your help and Happy Holiday.

How much are you looking to spend, and how handy are you with tools? I installed the lowering bolts. They were only $20 on ebay. Some say the ride is comprimised, but I did not notice any difference, and it lowered the bike almost 2 inches.

Thanks for the reply I'll sacrifies some $$ for the ride height, I'm 5'4" and can barely touch the ground. I have complete tools and mechanically encline. I'm planning to buy me a motorcycle jack stand from Harbor Freight or SAMS to do the job. If I could lower it approximately 2" I'll be happy camper.

Arlen Ness makes a great kit for the softail. It comes with the shorter dampers for the front and the adjustable bolts for the back shocks. Great kit. Comes with inst. and all the stuff you need to do the job. Lets you drop it about 1.75 inches. Used it on my 03 Fatboy and have no complaints.

I have lowering bolts in back and whitebrothers springs in front. Lowered front and back 2 inches. Sort of a rough ride but who the hell cares when you look so cool!

You might want to check out a previous thread about the same topic. Some good info on lowering a Deluxe...

You lowered a Deluxe 2" and noticed NO difference? I can't hardley believe that. Unless you ride ultra conservative 2" is a lot for a deluxe and will no doubt limit your cornering abilities and the ride. I am not saying it is not worth it if your into looks, but if you decide to do this be aware there will be a BIG difference. Read all the posts and you will see undeniable evidence of this. I scrape floorboards leaving the parking lots and I am stock. 2" lower and I would not get out of the driveway. A deluxe is at 24.5", the lowest stock HD made. Be safe.
