Does anyone know if 2007 fatboy wheels will fit an 08? I know there are several changes and the front end offset problem was corrected but I am not sure about change in wheels.
Thanks,
Tim
I'm wating to find out myself. As I understand it now the axles are different from 07 to 08, so therefore the bearings are different. I looked up the rear the other day at the dealer and there where 2 different part numbers for the wheels. But thats because the wheels come with the bearings installed from the moco.
I bid on some wheels on ebay and won. They where for an 07 and I have an 08. So the chrome shop is going to measure the two wheels 08 and 07 with no bearings and determine the differences, if any.
If you look in the catalog the new wheels fit both 07 and 08. You just change the bearings and thats it. That makes sense therefore believeing the wheels should be the same. except for the bearigs..IMHO
Thanks for the info keep me posted I will do the same. How do you like your bars and your seat? Where did you get seat and which model is it? I will post some photos of my bike we have the same color and I am about where you are in the process of spending money.
Thanks.. The seat is a saddleman tattoo profiler. Its pretty comfortable.. I wouldn't put it in the long hauler catagory, but it looks pretty good and serves its purpose. The bars are cerlini 9" rise. They are a good riding height for me. My arms are level and they handle the bike well. Here's a photo from the top.
Sorry guys, bad news, the 08 front wheel is a different casting, with a different offset, that is why the part numbers are different. I have personally measured the offset difference due to the fact that I have an 07 and I dont like the way the front wheel and fender are offset to the right, they are not offset as bad on the 08, so I am changing out my lower fork sliders (also diferent from 07-08) as well as the front wheel. I have studied this extensively, in my opinion Harley offset the front wheel on the 07 to compensate for the tranny offset required to facilitate the wide back tire. In the early 07 models (like mine) the upper fork slider could contact the front fender if you hit a big bump so they came out with a half a$$ fix / recall and they came out with the half moon shape cut out of the upper fork sliders so they wouldnt hit anymore. The problem was corrected for 08 by changing the offset in the front wheel and changing the lower fork sliders. Hopefully you have time to stop that order, or your gonna find out the hard way. Sorry for the bad news.
Caught your note on the 07 Fatboy offset. My problem is I have an 08 that has a bad offset and what I'm wondering if maybe I have an early build with 07 parts. I noticed the left slider has a p/n 45916-07, whereas the right side has 45915-08. Do you know what I should look for in the correction HD did from the 07 to the 08. Thx and ride safe. Can use any help you have cause my fender rubs with he new tire.
