Default Hardware/fastners

I was swerving through the J&P catalog and I came across hardware sets. I noticed that Garner Wescott hardware is available either chrome plated or polished. The polished sets were more expensive and I'm wondering why. Are they more resistant to corrosion? How's the aesthetics compare?

Its probably more time consuming to polish harware than to chrome it. Also you have to consider is the polished stuff stainless steel? if so then the chrome stuff is probably a cheeper material, hence the price differance.

This is where I get my fasteners. I am doing away with Torx Bolts and going to 12 point.

The polished is a quality stainless steel. More expensive to begin with.

Next is the labor of all those little green men polishing on the things without rounding the corners and other edges.

Stainless is forever on a scoot, unless you use the 410 series. Chrome is somewhat porous, plus any minor nick will allow moisture to get below the chrome and start the rusting process.

Chrome eventually gets polished off while stainless is never gonna lose its stainless qualities.
