Default Chroming question

Ive got a polished sprocket that I would like to have chromed. It isn't in mint condition. There are fine scratches in various places and the areas where the nuts/washes were is quite rough. My question is can this item be safely chromed without significant pealing risks down the road?

..shouldn't be a problem..chromers are going to polish smooth before chroming anyway.
