My winter project
Well one of my winter projects for my 96 Fatboy is to put 18" apes on. But I'm not sure what size of cables I'll need for this swap. Anyone have recent experience with this? I was thinking +12.

I just put 16s on mine and tried asking everyone for this answer . The best and really only thing you can do is buy the bars mount them and measure with a string or wire and then order the cables the length that you need . Also if you want to save some money and have a cleaner look you don't need an idle cable , just a throttle cable because it springs back without the idle cable (just my 2 cents) Good luck

I know thereâs lots of variables when sizing cables with apes, such as bike model, riser height, bar height etc., but you would think somebody would create a table of cables lengths per ape size and bike model. At least a table would give you a starting point.

I think I'll just stick with the stock riser. I'll have to mount them on there and do some measuring with a string. Seems like everyone says the string measuring works out. Whats the best cable to go with for the money. Looking for a stainless type do most cable manufactors put some type of coating on them to prevent scratching the paint?
