Hey Jimmers...I think I've got a set of black guards in the garage. I bought them by mistake for the Springer (because some doofus said they would fit[:@]) but no luck. I wound up spending $$$ for some chrome ones specifically for the Springers. If you're interested let me know...one less box in the storage rack...

I've been looking at this myself, the catalog saysthat I need a saddlebag relocation kit...13 bucks...did any of you guys use this? What does it do to relocate the bags? For 13 dollars from Harley it cannot be much at all!
I didn't install mine - had the dealer do it so I don't know. I do know I bought the guards and paid a minimal installation and I don't remember any mention of relocation.
I can also tell you that on the turquoise one (above) I put the quick release system on the bags(aftermarket) and it fit perfectly. That was after the quards were on.
Edit: As you can see below, it just bolts to a strut bolt at the top and to the footpeg mount at the bottom. Of course it's two parts, one for each side unlike the front bar which is one piece.
This is 1986 - 2005 and I don't know if there is a difference in the newer bikes.
I went back over my parts invoices from 2004 when I purchased the Rear Bag Gaurds. I didn't see any relocation kit but it does state you would needone in the catalog. I did the install my self and I just don't remember putting any relocation kit on.

The saddlebag relocation kit dosen't relocate the saddlebag, it replaces the existing bracket that the saddlebag support arm attaches to. It's the Z shaped bracket shown in the photo.
Not to take the topic off its original intent, but... Does anyone know if the saddlebag guards will fit on an '08 Deluxe? I'd love to get some, but I can't find anyone who can tell me if they'll fit. I have
the Deluxe bags and the Deluxe rear footboards. Thanks for any help someone might have.
Nice Bike Ratkiller.
Yes, I had to have the relocation kit according to the dealer. They were installed when I bought the bike and that was on the invoice. 2002 FlSTCI
