The only draw back with the pitbull lift is that your floor must be really flat or else if you pull the bike around in the lifted position it will get hung up on any high spots in the concrete. But i would imagine that happens with the rest of them since they are built so low to the ground.

Just ordered the J&S jack and frame protector pads for 08 Soft tail. Jack was $360 shipped. Pads were $20 shipped. I hope I don't regret spending the extra $.

Edit update. Found out pads were included with jack purchase. I don't know if this is automatic or you have to ask. Anyway, I cancelled my protector pad order.

ok one of the cheap guys here I have a red on I got from pep boys
works great.. goes right under my softail I do not have to use any extra pads to clear anything. have had both wheels off bike and have had it running on the jack no problem. people keep saying how they have broken their jacks I have never broken a jack (20 years as a mech) of any kind using it properly.. you can pay 50/60 $ for a jack or several hundred and they all do the same thing used properly....

i'v seen on other forums where guys turn their bike upside down and balance it on the handle bars and seat, like you use to do with your bicycle to crank the pedals to spin the back wheel when you were young.......

That holds true for a charles daly and benelli shotgun but obviously the benelli is going to outlast the charles daly i.e. pitbull vs. sears.

I'll post pics later of them side by side...different design.

I have the cheap sears red jack. Paid $60 for it on sale. It's heavy and I can just barely wiggle it under my deluxe - I have to hold the bike straight up with one hand while wiggling the jack under with the other hand. It works fine and is stable. If I put the bike on even 1/2" plywood I could make life easier for myself. It seems to me that its base is wider than the yellow aluminum jack just based on photos, and possibly more stable when bike is raised? I use it mostly to lift and clean and don't leave the bike sitting on it for storage. I think that for few dollars it will do the job. I'm not sure spending another $100 to get the yellow one would have made me that much happier?

I don't know, you all may be right but if my expensive jack doesn't do this I'll consider the money well spent.

Wow!!! Now i don't feel so bad for shelling out $469.00 for the pitbull lift, and i was looking at that sears yellow jack cause it looked good in the catalog and trying to justisfy the cost difference between the two lifts.

You don't need to wiggle the pitbull to get it under the back....line it up, push down with your hand a couple times then use your foot the rest of the way...

Here's the nail in the coffin for the sears lift and I've done all these things with my bikes when I got my pitbull...no tie downs...stood on the side...no wobble...
