REJET CARB.
2004 Heritage Softail
Vances and Hines long shots w/b
Having problems rejetting carb,, have been into the carb several times but 38 mpg is the best it will do,, Used Kuryakyn kit,, was wondering if I should have used Harley kit,,
Have used donuts in the exhaust head for better back pressure,,
Last resort is to the Harley shop to rejet and the dyno,,
Any rule of thumb for rejetting vance & hines with baffles????

For those interested,,
After reading "Twin Cam CV Carb Rejet Suggestions", I preformed the following adjustments,,
Reinstalled the original 190 jet and emulsion tube, original 45low speed, orginal spring, original needle with 2 washers on top, drilled vaccum ports, idle screw 2 1/2 turns out, installed exhaust donuts
Ihave previously been into the carb over a dozen times documenting each adjustment with the Kuryakyn kit,,, best I was able to get was 38 mpg,,
Ater reinstalling the orginal partsmpg is averaging48,, BIG change,,, thanks to HDF Tech

FOR THOSE INTERESTED
Have checked the mpg several times after my last post,, average mpg is 48 and 42 with passenger,,
Drilling the vaccum port did create more power for passing when gearing down to 4th,, but it does pop every now and then when at low speeds
Thanks again,,

One more thing,,
I have found out by experience that it is not neccessary to spend big bucks on the high flow breather set up,,, I used my original air filter and breather,,,
Just perform the following modifications,, if u r a handy man???
Modify the back plate by cutting4 slotted holes ( just like the original air inlet hole in the bottom) on the edges of the plate,,
Drill holes (1/4 bit or larger) as close as possible, then use file (pneumatic air file,, much quicker) to fine tune square corners and straight edges,, this modification is actually out of site so perfection is your choice,,
Still getting 44/48 mpg (w/o passenger)
Good luck,,
