I was thinking of changing my CV carb to a Mikuni 42mm carb. What I am looking for is more torque! Currently, I have a stage one with Vance & Hines Longshots (HS) pipes on it. The bikes sounds good but I would like to get a little more torque out of it... The bike is a 06 Heritage Softail 88B... Any suggestions??
the cv carb is a realy good carb.unless your pushing 100cu. inches or more its not worth it
cv carbs are simple to tune and rebuild.mikuni or s&s are very picky.i had bought a mikuni 42
and it drove me bannanas constantly tweaking it.I found this website through the forum and put
my cv back on www.harley-performance.com. they have a realy good rebuild kit i used and i have
better response than my mikuni had. or you could check out ron trocks high performance cv carbs he builds them for racing and such.he doesnt have a website though.but you find some info
on the web about him. www.bikernet.com had a recent article on his cv carbs.

Check out the Wood's CV carbs if you want a CV but if you buy a Mukuni it will serve you better if you have it tuned by a very good dyno tech. then dont mess w/ it after he gets it tuned you will just sctew it up and he will have to go through the same process again.
I have had a mukuni 42 on my EVO for over 8 yrs. tuned it and left it alone.
Bike runs great and no probs.Good gas mi to. can be tuned for each
stage upgrade easily
