Default Mikuni Carb

What's the prevailing opinion on Mikuni carbs? Good, bad or ugly?

Great Carb. A little Harder to tune than a CV but the response is incredible.

Bit of a bear to tweak in properly takes somebody who really knows to get them right but outstanding once it's dialed on later model sleds . Anything 80" or under they are a waste of money on a CV will give you just as much .

I put a Mikuni on my 1988 1200 years ago, (course that stock carb had no accelerator pump). Granted my '88 Sporty as opposed to a "late model" bike may have been easier to improve, but I found the tuning instructions to be fairly easy for a person with some mechanical abilities, and I found the Mikuni much smoother in operation than the S&S on my Super Glide, especially though mid range throttle operation. They are not cheap, but Mikuni's are in my opinion great carbs.

I had a Mikuni on my '96 RoadKing with, of all things, a friggin' Hypercharger; no other mods. Out of all my 18 Harleys, including a couple race tuned 96 motors, it was the fastest Harley I ever owned. Sold it to a neighborhood guy; wish I kept it.
