Problem solved thanks in part to steven agnj.
Notice the blue LED lights indicating a full tank. When it's on the last half gallon the farerest on on the left turns red. Very cool. At least I think it is.

I have the flush mounted LED filler cap and fuel gage on my 06 Heritage, it goes to flashing red when I still have 1 1/2 gal left. does anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?
kimbo, use the warranty... it seems some of these LED HD parts are having all kinds of problems... my skull LED fuel gauge has two missing teeth (the second and third LED are not working. have read post of similar problems with the gauges... also with the tribar taillight.
i'm going tomorrow to the stealership and see if can get it replaced (don't have the receipt). wishme luck...

The one thing that seems to be common is that the float arm inside the tank is bent so it says you need fuel a lot sooner then required, even with the stock gauge. Fixing it unfortunatly means pulling out theguts of the tank to get at the silly thing so you can "bend" the arm a little.
A bunch of guys have also reported that the damn things will also get stuckagains't the side of the tank making the gauge (stock or any other kind) virtually useless.
I have never found a gauge that was really trustworthy on any bike I have ridden and long ago developed the habit of using the trip meter for it.

Thanks for the feed back, I too typically rely on the trip meter.
Sorry to say, but those led gas caps are junk, you will have nothing but problems with them.
[sm=exactly.gif]I have them too and the lights stopped working after a few months . Now the only lights that work are the 2 middle blue ones when it's full [:@]Sorry I didnt see this sooner to warn ya
