Another vote for V&H.Have had a few sets and their quality is pretty good. Not sure but do the Samson fishtail dualshave heat shields?? If not its an easy decision.
Do the Samson duals utilize the stock shifter rod or do they use an angled one?
It is a hard choice to make. Samson fit, finish and customer service sucks, but they are really the only game in town for duals on a softail. On the V&H true dual, they have a nasty crimp on the rear header for clearance and you are unable to use different mufflers.
I have used V&H on all my bikes, great pipes, finish, and performance. Just put V&H staggered bigshots on the wifes Deluxe today. No quite baffles. great sound and feel to these. Highly recommend.
I have the Samson true duals. If I were running stock pipes and making the change I would probably go with V&H. When I bought my bike the Samson pipes were the only trued dual fishtails for a softail around. I did have a weld break free from a heat shield, but Samson was pretty good about replacing it for free. If I ever need new pipes I will probably pick up the V&H fishtails.
VHBSL I love em, You look at them when you walk up to your bike they just look sogood, long straight double barrel chrome and when you start your bike you get the sound your wanting to hear. They're well made, look and sound the best. I think the fishtails can distract you from looking at the rest of the bike they are a bit too noticable. I wonder if the enclosed tail causes problems. Anyway you should have made up your mind by now.
Had both albeit no duals. Samson pipes are great IMO and they sound awesome. V&H definitley gets the nod on fit and finish though. I think you'll be happy either way. Guess if I had to choose a dual exhaustI'd go with the V&H.
I bought my Fatboy in August, & it had 7000 miles on it. It had Samson pipes installed at about 3000 miles. I had the bike for about 1 month when I noticed a difference in the sound of the pipes. I found that the rear pipe had busted all the way around about 2" from the head flange. Now I have V&H on it.
