I agree with the poeple who said sitting "on" a road King classic, as opposed to sitting "in" a Heratige. My question is... what about the Road King Custom as compared to the Heratige?
Love my custom, sits low handles great, I came from a 04 superglide and expected the king to be sluggish in corners, but to my suprise the custom is very flickable in corners and all around better handeling than my superglide. As for around town riding the custom is also great, lower the road king classic and I think you will be happy.
I love my 2003 Heritage. I've riden with touring bikes and I had NO problem keeping up with any miles they were willing to ride.
Also, I've riden Road Kings. It's true the sit "in" a softtail "on" a touring bike thing. Rent each and decide. If I were buying new, the ABS and six gallon tank only available on the touring bikes might sway me towards a Road King.
The RK is a great Touring bike, smooth and nimble. No arguments about it.
The Heritage is a light touring bike but foremost, a Softail. A "retro-look"design built on the looks of the old FL models that were once built on a Rigid frame. The frame has improved over the years with a hidden suspension underneath that still gives the Softail a Rigid frame appearance.
The best part about the Hearitage Softail is stripping off the saddlebags and showing a "clean" rear fender devoid of shock absorbers and saddlebag mounting brackets.
