The 1000 mile service on my 08 Heritage calls for an idle speed check. The service manual states the idle speed can only be set using a computer program available only to HD dealers.
The idle sounds fine to me now but I'm wondering if it will increase if I start running synthetic oil in it. Any thoughts?
The idle speed on the EFI bikes is set by the differentenginetemperature ranges.
I have the HD SERT and there is a setting to change the Idle RPM at different Temperature ranges but I wouldn't mess with that.
Thanks. prolly sounded like a stupid question but since synthetic reduces friction it just made sense that it might also increase the engine idle. But I guess the efi determines the speed independently.
the idle is controlled by the ECM so it will not change when running synthetic oil. I use Amsol and it made the bike smoother, quieter, cooler and seems faster.
