Default '07 Fatty owners

Hey guys. So looks like there’re a few here that’ll be changing out their ’07 Fatty tires pretty soon if they haven’t already done so.

The front is a 140 / 75

So my question is; if Metzler does a 150 / 80, would that be ok.

Noone here seems to have a freakin’ clue and the HD dealer said it would take 6 weeks to ship the original HD tires in from the Spanish Mainland. I just can’t seem to find a 140 / 75 from anyone over here.

Someone told me yesterday that because HD's are so heavy it's best to get the exact measurments. Sounds like a load of crap to me.

Also, the Metzler is like $150 US (from a friendly); whereas the original HD; from the dealer; is something stupid, like $300 US. (257 Euros)

I replaced both tires after 10K miles, and only because I had a rear tire puncture. Local dealers charge you full MSRP ($227 rear, $200 front).

Cheapest place around here is the Motorcycle Super Store link below. Prompt delivery in USA. Wouldn't hurt to check for your needs.

Note: Thenew tires do not say anymore Harley Davidson on the side wall like the OEM tire that came with your bike, plus there is a groove thread on the center of the tire, I believe it to be better to displace water in a rainy day. Tires feel taller than OEM though and you can lean a bit further without fear of scraping the floor boards. I keep them at 38 psi front and rear at 40 psi.

I wouldn't go any bigger in the front, this is indeed a heavy bike. Good luck.

Yup, looks good, but I'm not in the States. Those prices are real cheap compared to the European prices for the HD original ones.

Just from a security standpoint, I'd love to know if it's possible to put a 150 on. If I have to remove the front fender, .....got no problem with that.

Another option is ebay. Quite often auctions for takeoff wheels with tires end below 500 (and you get a set of spare wheels)
