Default Detachable passenger backrest question

Hi Guys,

I have just bougth detachable passenger backrest for my 2007 fatboy. Apparently it comes with directionals relocation kit which replaces oem directional mounts.Have not installed it yet. Starting to have doubts ifIwill like the way theyare supposed to look.

I was wondering if anybody has a pic with this kit installed.

i have one for my 06 night train.itDOES take away from looks, but the detachable backrest is well worth it in my opinion. and the only other person to notice it so far, was a buddy of mine who has the same bike as me.
i dont like my bike with a backrest, but its great for my wife. she doesnt grab on to me and hang on for dear life anymore. hell, i barely even notice shes back there anymore. and when shes not riding with me, i just take it off and snap it back on whenever i feel like. so the look of the turn signal relocation kit was a verySMALL sacrafice for me, but i plan on getting an led tail light with integrated turn signals and removing the stock ones anyway.
heres some pics of mine. hope it helps.

No pics from me because I decided that I didn't like how the replacement stand-offs look for the rear signals.

In a way, I guess they're not that noticeable when the backrest is attached, but with it off again, I just don't like those round tubes as compared to the flared ones thatcome stock.

Of course I like the idea of "detachable", but just not with the light kit from Harley. I was investigating moving the lights down to some sort of bar, back by the tail light, or maybe trying an application of those newer mini-LED signals, but all of this adds up past my budget just to get to "detachable".

Right now, my sissy bar and fender rack are permanently mounted to the rails, enjoying the stock flared turn signal stand-offs.

Some of the guys here should pick up on your thread. There are some nice looking solutions that folks have come up with. I'll be watching this thread too!

Thanks, for the pictures! Those relocation mounts really do look ugly. [:'(]

I think I have two options here: Use the sideplates from the permanent backrest that I have on my older fatboy (which I'm planning to sell anyway), or try to live relocation kit. Ugly backrest vs ugly turn signals.

Ahhh, glad I saw this one. I thought those little studs were horrible too, but I needed a backrest, and I REALLY wanted the detachable one. soooo....

the backrest only encroaches on the turn signal mount a little bit, so I took out my trusty dremmel tool and I carved out a tiny section of the stock turn signal mount so my backrest would drop in great. wish I had some pictures here to show ya, but I'm at work at my fire station until sunday morning. It took me some time, but well worth it in the end.

When you get a chance, a couple of pics would be appreciated. Sounds like a good idea.

Detachable was my plan... turns out my bags weren't but the ugly mounts were on before I realized it.

Have been researching a way to do this... Check this out.

Here is a link to a lay down tag bracket with the flared turn signals mounted on the side.

Here's the link to a video showing the tag/turn signal being installed.

It seems like a reasonable solution and doesn't look too bad regardless of whether you bought their bag brackets.

You could do like I've done......lose the turn signals all together. I did it on my sporty, and now on my softail standard. It's more costly, but I LOVE the looks of it. Check with Dennis Kirk, or JP Cycles, etc. Kuryaken makes a tail light that's LED, with built-in turn signals. When I hit the brakes, my tail light flashes 7 times before staying on. When I hit the signals, 1/2 of my light blinks. It really cleans up the back of your bike (especially with detachable backrests).
