Default Streamlining the rear...

After searching my local shops for narrow rear turn signal mounts for my 2002 FXST and finding nothing, I decided to see what I could make up on my own.

Attempt #1 -I cut the stock ones down to see how they looked and scrapped that after a test fit. They looked like crap.

Attempt #2 - I tried making a shorter round spacer that would go on the bolt between the fender strut and the lamp. Looked better the shorter I made it, but then I suddenly got my brain back and noticed something...

Final solution - I just bolted the signal straight to the fender strut with a shorter bolt. No mount, spacer or anything, and damned if it doesn't look nice. You can notice a short bit of the wiring coming from the lamp and going through the stock wiring hole in the strut cover, but the lamp covers most everything nicely.

I'm thinking of ways to clean that up a little but haven't come up with the perfect solution yet. I may just take a chrome hole plug and notch it to run the wiring through. I was also contemplating cutting the stockmounts to fit in the gap, but that wouldrequirea lot of screwing with.

I was worried about the wiring being too long, but I wasable to pull it tight and zip tie it and cram it in the tail light lens still.

I'll post pics tonight.

I'm going with the 07 mounts for the rear blinkers I ride a 05 NT and my buddy needed to relocate
his rear blinkers for his ouick release sissy bar there alot shorter then whats on mine and he's giving me the bolts to. They sould fit just like the org. just alot closer to the fender.
