I took my sister-in-law for a short ride this weekend.I forgot to give her the old keep your feet of my pipes speech. anyway now there is melted tennis shoe on my new pipes. anyone have any tried and true methods for removing this stuff?
Oven cleaner works excellently. Just make sure you spray it on the rag and not the pipe. It works really good if the pipes are warm. That with the steel wool that was recommended already and it will come off like warm butter. Use the Magic eraser afterwards and the pipes will be nice and shiny again.

YES be very carefull if you use oven cleaner it will eat the paint put it on the rag first
I use Easy Off oven cleaner and "0000" steel wool. I would not go any coarser than that. As said above, be very careful not to get any of the oven cleaner on paint. The rubber gunk will come off smooth as you could want, though.
All of the above methods work like a friggin' charm... I think I heard a cat say he used something called "Goo-Off" Or "Goof-Off" Not sure, something a long those lines.
A buddy of mine and myself took his drunk ex-ol' ladies expen$ive hooker shoe of his V&H Cruisins with hot pipes, oven cleaner, and a cleaning sponge.
I hd a serious problem with that to. Matter of fact I have to do it alot. Heat your pipes up and use a green scratch pad u know the one attached to a sponge. Then wet a little and it coms right off and doesnt scratch anything. Its by far the least abrasive way
