Default How much should it cost to mount tires

Hey guys just got back from the local bike shop and left 2 tires to be mounted and balanced they are off the bike the rims are brand new without tires on them all he has to do is put the tires on the rims How much do you think is a fair price for this? He is charging me $97 I think that is to much has anyone else had this done and how much did you pay . Or what is your opinion on that price.

My local indy shop charges $45 to pull the wheel off the bike, mount and balance the tire, and put it back on. So yes, that sounds kind of high.

Same here (in SoCal), exactly. $45 per wheel on the bike, if you've bought the tires from him. He charges $15 over the lowest price you can show him on the Internet for the same tire.

My stealer charges $32.50 mount & balanceper wheel off the bike. $65 per wheel on the bike. A hole in the wall shop near me said he could do it for $25 but then reneged when I showed up with 18" billet chrome wheels. I think he was afraid he would scratch them. My stealer does a grat job for the $32.50.

HD shops seem to charge about 45 bucks a tire, independents are less, like 20-30
