I am looking to purchase a set of custom wheels for my Heritage. I like the look of the "fat spoke" wheels, but cleaning spokes takes a bit of time. I have seen the billet spoke custome wheels from Weld and HogPro, but can't seem to come to a decision. I would like to keep a classic look, but at the same time, when I remove the bags and remove the 2 up seat, I want wheels that would look good both ways.
My questions are:
1)What wheel choices do you think I should look at?
2) Should I keep the stock 16" or move up to 18"?
Whats up HeritageTookMyMoney........Wait a minute, sounds like I am talking to myself! Sounds like we have the same model and color combo so I know what you mean but I'm glad she takes all my money.
I guess it would depend on what kind of look you are trying to go for with your ride? I think the spoked wheels look the best on a Heritage if it is a bike that is still somewhat in it's stock configuration, more of a classic-traditional look. Now if its totaly stripped and done up to be a hot rod the mags or blades are pretty nice looking.I have seen some spoked wheels that have the big thick chrome spokes and even some spokes that are spiraled with white walls and it still kept the traditional classic look on the heritage they were on. I don't know about the bigger tires and wheels, I guess you would have to considerif they would clear the fenders??
I personally like the Fat Daddys, but I can't (won't) pay around eight bills each for them. I bought the HD slotted 6 spokes about a year ago, andsent them to the chrome shop to have them chromed. As for going from 16's to 18's thats gonna have to be your choice. Keep in mind that 18 inch tiresare generally more expensive.
If you want to keep the whitewalls i would stick to 16' spokes, possibly 80 spokes or something similar. They will look good with the bike stripped down or dressed up.
But if you are prepared to go to 18' wheels PM have some great lookin wheels.Saw a Heritage with 18' PM Wrath wheels (no whitewalls) and it looked fantastic but gives the bike a more modern look i suppose.Go on the Hogpro site and have a look at the gallery pics.Lots of different combos there.Personally i like the 16' wheels with whitewalls but thats just me.
