I am always plum proud to see a little drip or two under Scarlet. She is 29 years old and has bad manners. I don't look for my '07 Deuce to leak at all whether it is next week or 10 years from now. Good preventive maintenance and a brain keeps everything right. I love trolls.

This mainly started with the "total loss" oiling system back when there were mostly dirt roads and the harley operated with a "splash" type oiling system the oil went through the engine and ended up on the primary chain and rear chain. Later on when the first pressurized oiling systems came out it wasn't that much of a concern if it dripped a bit or not. There are some excellent articles on the whole issue in AIM with details years etc. I ran a 1975 FLH that did mark it's spot when stock but after chopping it and stroking to a 96" (see pic) I put on over 80,000 miles on this rigid and it did not leak a drop nor had any misting. The only time I had an oil dripping problem was in Mexico when the braided oil lines when rubbing together started to drip because they rubbed through!!!! No more braided lines for me. If assembled properly, torqued to factory specs and with the breather modified on strokers there is no reason for any Harley to have a leaking problem.

They say many of HD after 50 000 mils have LEAKS OIL - runs and idles rough.

Is it truth?
30 years ago...sometimes, but not now. By the looks of your profile you have a twin cam Softail standard. You have nothing to worry about.

--I don't think he's a troll, just a dude from Russia who heard some old lies about Harleys.
