Default Engine Guards or Crash Bars?

I don't know if this has ever been brought up, but are they called Engine Guards or Crash Bars. I, once called them Crash Bars while a friend and I were talking, and he said, and I quote,"say Engine Guards, not Crash Bars"!........What do ya'll call em?

crash bars.but i know of many who say engine guards must be more politically correct to say engine guards so it doesnt conotate a crash.but old school is crash bars

ill say both depending on what i feel like, if talking with friends that dont know much about bikes ill say engine guard, if talking to other bikers ill say crash bar. just preference

It's the old tomato tomatoe thing. I call em engine guards and saddlebag guards cause basically that's what they're designed to protect when the bike goes down.

I think a lot of people are moving towards engine guards because Crash guards don't guard you from a crash but guards the engine in case of a crash.

The manufacturers actually stopped calling them crash bars years ago due to lawsuits. Calling them crash bash had the connotation that they would protect you in an accident. And you know our legal system. If they don't in fact protect you then the manufacturers had the liability

Back in the day they were called crash bars but it is now apparently PC to call them engine guards.
