Default Soft Brake Tombstone Light.

I got home today to find a package from Soft Brake. When I opened it I found a new rubber gasket for my tombstone light. They said that they knew the one that came with the light sucked so here is a better one. Works out a lot better too. If you don't receive one, call them and have them send you a new one.

I've been planning on getting one of those. Is it just a new housing that screws on to the old plastic base?... or is it a whole new assembly? It really looks great on your bike.

It took me a couple of hours to get it just right the first time with that original crappy gasket. They're going to send me the new gasket but I think I'll leave well enough alone. I still have to buff out all of the fine scratches on the fender from all of the fiddling around just to get it to fit right.

spike95-

It's an entire new housing. Gets rid of the clear plastic filter for the license plate light, so it's all chrome. Make sure andorder the license plate relocation kit as well, the new housing doesn't include the bracket to put the plate below. I also got an LED license plate cover that I wired up to the circuit for the stock taillight. Works great. Pic is below.

Spike,

Like what cjgrog said. It's the entire assembly. Looks MUCH better then stock. I just put the frame light on becasue of bike week (didn't want a ticket). I pulled that crappy gasket off the bike and put the new one in 10 minutes after I opened the package it came in and it's a much better fit.

I never could get the one that came with the kit to work
I ended up using the original gasket. Guess I have to call them.

Thanks for the replies guys but I think I need to clarify my question for you. I understand that it is a new housing. I was not asking about the housing though. I am asking about the basepiece that the housing attaches to which holds in the bulb. The stock one is a plastic assembly. Do you retain the stock one?

Yes, you retain the original base piece.

I bought the one from 05Deluxe.

Another option for a plate is a side mount plate. Won't work if your running bags. I got the softbrake cover for my 02 under construction. I also picked up a side mount bracket from Jireh cycles. It has a light for the plate and no directional or brake light. Looks real clean. I can't wait to get it on the bike. It's all out for powdercoat right now.
