Default handlebar switch

I am new to motorcycling, but I am considering switching the stock handlbars on my Heritage classic to Wild 1 518's. I love to look of them. My question and concern is how will switching the handlbars effect my control of the bike. Please be honest, I don't want to do anything that I will regret. thanks...
