Have had both. The race tuner works better. Also, I am told that Harley now refuses to install the Power Commander because it wears with vibration and has shown a tendancy to fry the bike'scentral control computer.

I've heard that before from someone at the dealership near my house and i think its a line of **** harley spits to get you to buy there race tuner. On the flip side of that, i have nothing against the race tuner and it was a close decision for me on the power commander and race tuner. With that said, i went with the power commander custom tuned by Fuel Moto upon it getting good reviews here and i couldnt be happier. The fact that its easy around my parts to find someone who has a dyno and can tune a power commander makes it that much better, but fuel moto also says they will reprogram the power commander for any mods you may add after purchase. So far, there customer service was top notch and the price was pretty good as well. Either way, you cant go wrong.

It may be just a Harley spin, but I can tell you the Power Commander on my Fatboy suddenly started draining my battery and causing a slew of different fault codes to be generated. It is hardware and requires full voltage at startup or will cause missfire. When Dyno'd it showed jagged HP and Torge peaks. Decent Air/Fuel. Had it removed and the Screaming Eagle Race tuner chip burned in and the bike re-dyno tuned. No more hardware battery drain, no more fault codes, more power and torque and a better sounding engine. I have all the graphs.

Like i said, im not trying to start a power commander/race tuner war. I like both, i just chose the power commander based on the good reviews here and simple installation. I also cant see one failing from heat or vibrations. One, where mines mounted on the mudflap, it has a pretty good barrier from the heat and as far as vibration, I was as hard as one could be on a power commander on my crotch rocket doing all kinds of crazy *** stunts bangin the front and back on the ground and never had a malfunction. Im sure its happend to someone, but i dont think enough to worry about.
