Default Heritage Lift

Yeah guys............I have done many searches but can't find an answer to my question. Has anyone used a Pitbull jack or j&sjack to lift a Heritage, for that matter any of the softail models. My concern is how the thes two lifts handle the shocks being below the frame.

I have a 07 Fatboy and a J&S Jack.

I cut a 5/8" plywood to 16x18", notched the 16" side 8" deep and 8" wide to clear the shocks, put it under the frame and lift away!

Took 5 minutes max and so she sits in the garage...

I bought a Pit Bullwhen I hadmy 05Ultra,I just bought an 08 Heritageand had the same concern.I called Pit Bull, they said that they had been lifting Softails for years without causing any damage to the shocks. Then I was given specific instructions for lift placement under my Heritage.

Not being satisfied with one opinion I asked my Harley tech and he also said no damage to shocks would occur. He has been working on Harley's for over 20 years.

I've had my bike up on the lift three times and have kept the front lifter just forward of my shocks. However I plan on getting Frame Protecters this Spring. Hrd Rider[sm=itsok.gif]

Is the Sears red jack the best one to get from them? About how much was it? I need to get one to be able to get to that rear disc after washing the bike. It seems to be pitting a bit from water and road salt.

The Sears red jack is a POS, same chinese junk you find all over for sal between $50 and $100. I got one of them and it jacked my Heritage up fine, didn't have any problems with the shocks, but the bike rocked back and forth on the lift. Side to side was fairly steady. Thought maybe I didn't have th arms centeres well but then I saw it was the arms on the list actually tweaking side to side. Wasn't real comfortable so I cut the work short and went to my local Harbor Freight to see if I could find a better lift cheap. What I found instead was this:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=94778

It cost about $40. It slides around the lift from the opposite side, then you lower the bike onto it and slide the lift out. It was rock steady. Also there is not a lift sticking out the side getting in your way. And the cheapo bottle jack is not holding the weight of the bike, so your lift will last longer. Loved it, spent hours working on the bike doing some heavy wrenching and the bike never budged. Has large lockable casters so you can move the bike around the garage if you are using it as a storage stand.
