i've rode an elecrta glide which i would think is similar to the street glide and a fat boy . the fatboy made me feel uncomfortable when going by any truck traffic and especially on windy days. the bike just didn't feel stable. the electraglide was very comfortable, bulky but sure on its feet. i'm defineatly not tryig to knock softails since i own a standard, the fatboy is just not my bag.

I have yet to feel unstable on my bike. Trucks, wind, 2 lane roads at 55 oncoming 18 wheeler, nothing. Then again I add 300lbs to the bike, so maybe thats why. Also dont have solid wheels, but thats a debatable issue.

Totally different bikes with different purposes in mind. You have to know what kind of riding you will do primarily. How much time your girlfriend will spend on the back. How much you want to carry with you.

I want a streetglide, but I also want my deluxe. Someday I will have both. Wanted the deluxe more, so thats what I have now.

Cant comment on the street glide, but I absolutely love my Fat Boy

As to the stability, this is a very solid stable bike.

I have answered this question on numerous occasions, and my answer is always this:

It depends entirely on what you plan to do with the bike. If you are going to ride around, do a few weekend trips, or longer trips 1 up, and if you can be a very spartan traveler then the FatBoy will fit the bill.

If you plan to travel two up, take enough stuff for a week or two, and do it in comfort then the Street Glide might be the best choice.

Take your time in your purchase. Decide what your riding style will be, and what look you just can't live without. Make a list of what is important, and the things that are not so important, then decide which bike will take care of most of the important stuff.

You also need to try out a few different ones and see how they fit you. My wife has a Heritage Softail, and she is very happy. She has ridden my EG Classic, and also rode my old Roadking, and while she liked the comfort and trinkets of the touring bike, she did not like they way they felt to her.

Regards,

Bill
