Just bought a 08 deluxe and put v&h true duals, big sucker air cleaner and a SERT. Having problems with heat on the left side. I think the exhaust is heating things up. At a stop light I'm afraid I might burn my legs....Has anyone installed and used the smoked Kuryakyn saddle shields? If so, did they work? Please post any pictures...thanks
If it gets that hot then there is something wrong. I had the heat until i did a stage one with the pclll. now after a run I can touch the heat shields and also the muffler and not get burned.
I bought a pair for my 2005 Ultra Classic after stop and go traffic for 3miles up against Jersey Walls in the middle of August trying to get thru a roadconstruction site around Chicago while heading West. My right thigh was burnt so badly that it took 2 days of applying Cortisone Cream before I had any pleasure riding. My bike was Dynotuned perfectly and AFR was 14.2. It was just so dam hot, I even shut the engine off whenever I could.
That was back in 2006 and I had a difficult time finding the Kuryakyn SS backthen. Finally found a pair and they really did help. Then I think HD saw the need for them and they came out with a pair, I think in 2007. No pictures. Hrd Rider
i have the same problem with my deluxe . v&h true dules. i have short leggs and would burn the inside of my left thigh. i got the idea from some old school pics and got an oval heat shield and installed it over the main sheild with two stainless zip ties. looks great and works even better.part #30-0221 v-twin.
I was talking to a guy who owns a parts shop and he says there must be something wrong. One of my cylinders is hotter than the other and when you put your hands down by the duals, hot air only comes out of the right side muffler. I did the big sucker stage 1 and also had the SERT race tuner installed. I'm told it shouldn't be that hot. I think I will take it back to the dealer, maybe it needs a little adjustment. thanks
