When I saw the first Cross Bones "Dark Custom"pics I could have sworn that the primary cover and whole lower half of the engine was wrinkle black like the Night Train... now I'm seeing all the new Cross Bones bikes on this forum with chrome primary's...am I crazy or did Harley change to chrome...(not very "Dark Custom" if you ask me)
They used a brushed aluminium finish on those covers from the factory.
My dealer has two. On one they did what you thought you saw - swapped everything for wrinkle black except for the rocker covers (an oversight I think).
Its probably a good balance for a stock custom. Half of new owners will chrome the crap out of it and the other half will have the entire bike dipped in Rhinoliner.
