You can also try to reduce the lean angle of the bike by counterleaning your body more when turning. It's hard to do mentally but if you do that you can reduce the lean angle of the bike somewhat. Of course speed, road conditions, your ability, and safety all play a role.

There is a compromise that you must make to lower the bike. Form follows function in most cases. The lower you go, the less you'll be able to lean scrape free.

I wouldn't even be concerned with scraping the boards. It's the mounts they bolt to that suck to hit the ground with. If you hang off your bike kinda like a sportbike rider, then you don't have to lean the bike so far. It is simple math. If you lower it, you cannot ride it like you do now. Nothing that anyone here says will change that, even though I think you were probably hoping it would somehow. You're just gonna have to hang off the bike to make it work.

My Heritage is lower almost 2". I do drag the boards on occasion but don't worry about it. Slow down on the round-abouts.

All,
Thanks for the advice. I am going to lower the bike; i was just wondering how much more it will affect the dragging. Sorry Jerseythe Ducati is out of the question. I ride the Fatboy because I love to ride it! Had ridden those other bikes for10-15 years, although fun, they just don’t compare. I am not always dragging in the circles, just when i enter a little too fast. My main problem is on the open roads. Pretty "sporty" roads when you get off the autobahn, I think curves were mandatory feature when they built them. Gonna look for some thinner boards and will eventuallyprobably entertain the idea of fwd controls...

Oh ya, Spike...hit the mounts on more than one occasion, you are right...that sucks.

Thanks all.

JR, not tring to tell you what to do, but if you swap out your floor boards for pegs you be disappointed. I used to ride bikes with pegs and then 8 years ago I go one with boards. Man what a difference in comfort. I would never go back.

Marsh,
I completely agree with the comfort factor...I got one or two miles on pegs myself. I really want to lower the bike, and if the boards become a major factor then, and only then, is when i plan to think about pegs. I just really dont want to change the way i ride, too much, because of theboards. I bought the bike to ride, and if the boards get in the wayafter itislowered...there are alot of cool fwd controls out there. It is just going to be the last option, for now.

Thanks
JR
