I just purchased and installed the streamliner floorboard kit for my Street Glide. Install went pretty straightforward, except for pressing the inserts into the pans. I guess I'm just not sure if they are pressed in all the way. Are the inserts supposed to press in to be flush with the pan?
Or should there be some rubber showing on the underside of the insert?
It seems like there is a tab in the pan that would engage with a lip on the insert, but can't quite get it.
I squeezed that thing down every way to Sunday, using clamps too, and could just not get them to sit flush. I went for a ride, they didn't fall out, so I assume they are in there. I can take a picture tonight if it would help, but should they sit flush? The instructions don't say.
Thanks!

Ilooked at a set of these the other day since my wife doesn’t like the pegs. Itlooks like they stick out more than the pegs and might be a PITA when backingup even when folded(?) Do you think this will be a problem?
Yes, they stick out more than the pegs, I don't find them troublesome so far when folded. I can feel them, but still move the bike around fine. They'd really be in the way when folded down, but I don't walk the bike around with a passenger on it.
I had the problem getting the pins into the inserts when I put them on. It was december and a little cold. I used hot water and WD 40. With the pins in, the inserts near the bike are secure and there is a gap on the outside.

I've got a set on my SG, and when they are folded up, they rub against my inner calf, but they don't cause any issues backing up. I just have to remember to put them up once my girlfriend gets off the bike.
Based on what you guys have said, I think I'm ok then. The end closest to the bike is pretty much flush, the bottom of the insert and the top of the pan. The side furthest away there is a gap, and rubber visible. Here are a couple of photos, the gap is maybe 1/4".
