Default Draggin Boards

I have a question about lowering my Fatboy. I already have a problem with dragging my boards. Obviously if I lower the bike it is going to become worse. My question is, how much worse?I really would like to lower the front and back, the problem is I probably ride a little harder than I should and constantly drag those things. It scared the crap out of me the first couple of times but now it is normal, usually drag at least 4-5 times just riding to work. I am stationed in Germany (USAF)…the problem with riding here is the “turn circles”, basically intersections that are a big circle with 4 exits and no stop signs. Well since they all rotate in a counter clockwise circle…if you come into one of those a little “hot”, you are definitely dragging all the way around. I know I could get rid of the boards and trade for fwd controls, but I like the boards.

Anyone that drags there boards a lot, ever lower there ride? Sounds stupid I know, but man… some of these lowered bikes look great. Any advise?

Weld some welding rod on the bottom where they scrape. You will reduce the wear and at the same time send out a shower of sparks. Because you will lower the center of gravity you wiil not be leaning the bike over further, probably less. However it's closer to the ground so it won't scrape any more or any less than it does now. But how kool will it look?

I drag the boards on my deluxe all the time. I'm sure I will regret it some day. If you lower your bike the ride will be a bit stiffer!!

If you want to ride low, and carve the curves, why did you get a FatBoy? Yeah, it's gonna drag, and all those sparks are made of $$$...just sayin'...

If your dragging all the way around a circle or rotary, your on the wrong bike and I think the Ducati forums can help you. If your dead set on the Fatboy then your going to have to roll-off the throttle. Why do I have this image in my head of Jay Springsteen on a Fatboy crossed up on a half-miler. lol ........ be safe Bro.

JR,

You can get shorter/thinner boards that will help you out here. When you turn into a corner and scrape the boards it is only the rear bit of the board that scrapes.

Sorry cant remember who the seller/maker was but if you do a search I am sure you will find some.

Alternatively like Fist_Full said. get some forward controls. I went down this path and dont regret changing over from floor boards to forwards at all. I still manage to scrape the pegs though.
