They're not the first nor will be the last. Local shop still hasa 06Big Dog on the floor. As for getting your money back out of it, if or when you sell it, maybe ten years ago. Not even a Harley will fetch you your money back now-a-days. But that's not why we buy them, RIGHT???

It seems to me that you could make them more comfortable without sacrificing in the looks. We put a man on the moon, surely we can put one on a comfortable chopper.

a guy i met in Florida had a $60,000 Borget chopper. he rides that bike more in the week that he spends at bike week than he does the rest of the year. all i know is that i rode just as much on my Fat Boy as he did on his chopper and my bike never went in to the shop his went in twice ended up costing him about $2,000 to ride that piece of ****.

My buddy works at the Fort Worth HD shop and he told me last week that the old Iron Horse Dealership is going to be turned into a new Indian Dealership. Apparently someone is resurrecting the company.

An Indian Dealership? Someone is resurrecting that company AGAIN? Well, 3rd time's a charm! I've heard of throwing money out the window, but good Lord......Good luck to whomever takes that on......

Man, you used to be able to buy a kit chopper for 10 grand. They want 30 grand for someone else's dream. I like Harleys mostly because I can't see waiting a week for a taillight.

Dixie Dreg, I agree, man. Thunder Mountain Custom Cycles is a cutom bike with 95% factory Harley components and a 103 Twin Cam. Serviced @ Harley Dealers with no problem if you don't do your own. I like 'em, kind of the best of both worlds- custom and factory. Wish I could afford 3 bikes!

Well, I tell ya. I live in Rhode Island. Plenty of HD stealers and Custom Shops. An old time buddy of mine build a real nice place ACI Customs. Also owns a body shop for years, so he has that to fall on, especially for the winter months. He was a distributor for Iron horse and a couple of others, until Big Bear hit the scene. Now he's practically the only guy in NE for Big Bear. At 33-35K a pop, he selling them. I've been hanging around there alot, just a local hangout, fun place, work on my scoot there, and have him order me whatever parts I want to give him business.

Anyways, I just don;t get the whole custom chopper deal. I could have 2 really nice HDs for that price. Yeah, they are kindof pretty, but there;s really nothing to them. Great if you ride them in a straight line. God forbid if you hit a pothole, which we got plenty of around here with the winter snow, ice, and colder weather. The front fenders practically touch the ground. He got one in yesterday to fix. complaint was rear vibration. Get this. Frame was busted on a bend near the oil tank. The whole bike flexed!! They can keep them....

I'll re-build an older Harley to compliment my Deluxe.

Yes, its a fad, as is the new Harley Cross Bones, the Rocker, and all those bobbers you see. I personally love the look of a chopper.I just sold a American Ironhorse Tejas, customized more after purchase. $40k into it. Fast as hell, looked great, and impractical. Unreliable? yes. Uncomfortable? yes. But man, the girls sure loved it!!! And I did too. Lost my shirt on sale, but it paid for my new project.
