btw - only hassle with me and mates last few months has been helmets , although on one occasion they used the "loud pipe" excuse to pull over and do a ( not so ) random rbt and helmet inspection.
You get pulled over one time and you are thinkin about selling your bike??? I don't understand that kind of thinkin man. Gettin hassled by the cops is just part of ridin a harley, youshoulda knowedthat when you bought it. I spend half of my time avoiding the damn gestapo cops around here. I was riding down the street the other day and a California Highway Patrol (super gestapo) gets next to me and starts screaming at me over the loudspeaker in his car. I think he was talkin about my side mounted license plate but I'm not sure, couldn't really hear him. He didn't turn his lights on so I didn't pull over. At the next light, I turned right and hit it hard, he didn't follow so all was good.
You gotta stand up for your rights man, unless of course you think you can make a run for it. Besides, being a Harley rider, cops expect some attitude and if you don't give em some they will be disappointed and won't have any respect for you and of course you embarrase the rest of us. I mean, whats more important your life or your bike...I hope your answeris the latter. Just sayin...hell with em!
He even said 'where is the reflector on the back of the bike',for #%#& sake !!!!
hehe mine is on my sissy bar - shame it has been replaced with a detachable sideplate (w/out reflectors ).
btw - i checked the rta website. 3 pts for noise .. just don;t know how they can measure on the spot ?
Hell He did'nt give you a ticket. Pulled you over thinking you may have been drinking. Messed with you a little for loud pipes and let you go. I am just not sure what the big deal was. Is this the first time you have been stopped for loud pipes ? To sell the bike I would think it would have to be a weekly thing. Sounds to me like you have been looking for the first excuse to get a beemer. Tou have one cool bike. Not a bike I would be rushing to trade in on a beemer for.
Good luck
beemer.nice bikes. Go for it. If that is what you want . Cops....many don't want to mess with real criminals, just hassel bikers... Odd, where i live, as a rule of thumb, they leave bikers alone. One reason, many cops own bike around here. They will mess with the crotch rockets sometimes.........
