My apologies if this is not the best place to pose this question, but here goes:
How can I tell if my 2003 Heritage Softail Classic has the HD security system? The used bike dealer that I purchased from seemed to think that it had it, but couldn't find a key fob to go with the bike...is there a way I can tell quickly and easily if the system was installed?
03 would not have the proximity fob. It would be the pushbutton. To be sure you would have to look at the part number on the turnsignalmodule under the seat. You could look it up in the 08 parts catalog. I have the number but the part is in a box in my truck.
It is located in the space between the battery and rear fender behind that plastic mudguard. If you can't see it, then there are two screws that holdbottom ofthe mudguard. Remove them and lift it up a bit. Take the part number and google it.
If you get TSM then its only a turn signal module.....if you get TSSM then it is security system as well. You can buy fob separately on ebay, then attach it using manual.
In regards to my '08, I wondered what the deal was if I had it running and walked away- what would happen? I have not tried it yet, but when asking the HD dealership, they said that it would have no effect on it. So, I guess I have to try it now to see if it dies, sets off the blinker system, or what.

i dont think it would do anything wut if you wur going down the highway and your fob fell out your pocket?your bike would shut down doing 70 and you would play frogger trying to find it to start the bike again...lol
