Default Front end problem

This winter i installed progressive lower fork springs and a new wheel and its warming up here in MN i rode the bike and the front end wobbles back n forth at 50 mph....Now when i filled the fork tubes up one side spewed out so i guessed on the amount that spilled so if one side had less oil (not by alot)would that be my problem oh and yes the rear is lowered too thanx

Not too much advice from me but did you have the Wheel balanced?

I would think if one shock is set differently (different amount of oil), each bump at speed would result in different reactions. I have always been told that the measurment for each fork must be exact. Also check your pinch bolts for proper torque specifications. my 2 cents.

Hey DyNaBoB...I think the first thing I would do is drain my fork fluid and refill (on both sides). The amount needs to be correct and even inboth tubes. The problem with pinch bolts is too loose...you can get slippage...too tight...the bolt can snap while riding. I don't think I want either one happening to me at 50mph!

And just because the wheel was balanced at the dealer does not mean it was balanced correctly...I had a wheel balanced on my VTX1800 at the Honda dealer a few years back and the damn thing bounced all over the road. I took it back and had them redo it and found out that the weight had been installed180 degrees out from where it should have been! When I asked how that could happen the Service Manager said that doing tires is 'grunt' work where most of his laborers started out...the real 'certified' mechanics did not have time to lower themselves to do tires!

I don't know if your HD dealer is this way or not...but it's an idea.

Good luck...

Steve
