I bought an 04 Fatboy with 200 miles on it and Python pipes. I noticed right away that there was a chriping sound (like a bird chirping) at idle and 1st gear. Obviously not liking this I bought Bub Jug Huggers, which I had on a previous bike and loved them. After installing them last night, the freaking chrip is still there. There is nothing loose on the bike, it is definately an exhaust or motor issue. Anyone have this experience or know what the heck this noise is?
Yes i did and still do. It is the way the engine is tuned with the slipons. It is not as loud but still there when i am on different surfaces. The riders around me dont hear it. I think it is caused by the slash cut pipes as others with straight cut have not heard this. If you change the surface you ride on it should change the pitch or make it go away.
I had a buzzing sound one time but located it to the license plate rattle in the bracket.
Exhaust chirping can be caused by a burned exhaust valve, but with only 200 miles I doubt that. On my bagger it was the rubber bushing that holds the muffler. WD40 to the rescue.
My 05 Heritage did the same thing after installing Rush slipon's.
Chirps at idle and decel. Sounds like it is coming out the muffler for the front cylinder or leaking at the clamp for the rear muffler.
Bought new gaskets and clamps and am going to try them.
