Default Newbie with a tire ?

Hello everyone.I just purchased an 01 night train and the rear tire is rubbing the fender on the belt side. It has a metzler me880 150-16" tire on it. I'm guessing i need the wide tire kit or some different spacers. Or if there could possibly be something else causing alignment issues. I called a local dealer and they didn't believe that the tire was rubbing the fender so i figured i would give it a try on here. I did a search and couldn't find anything on a tire actually rubbing the fender. Any help would be great. [sm=smiley20.gif]

It also has aftermarket wheels on it. Extreme alloys i think. Don't know if that makes a difference.

First off that's the wrong tire, the right size is a 130 not a 150 and its probably why its rubbing. 20mm makes a big difference on an unmodified wheel setup. Best bet, and probably the cheapest way out would be to just get the right size tire put on.
If you wnat to get a wider tire under there start checking the various makers like Heartland to see what they can do for you. But just be aware that its not a cheap upgrade.

Good Luck and next time please post some pics.

We want pictures... lol
Take some picture of where you think it's rubbing? I have a 05 and on mine a 150 is
stock, but Citoriplus always seems to know what he's talking about so I trust what he
says about an 01, If I remember correctly harley use to sell a wide tire kit for those
to bump it up to a 150... and do you know how wide the rim is on that after market rim?

Thanks for the compliment, but its not real hard to figure out. If you look the bike up on Metzlers web site it will tell you thatuo til 02 that bike uses a130 whilebikes made after 02 use the 150. They didn't go to the even bigger 200 till06, which oddly enough Metzler doesn't make. They do make a 210 that will fit in place of the 200 with no modifications. But its a real close shave to all accounts.
As far as the HD mod kit, I belive they did make one. But I don't know if its still avalable. Might be able to find it inthe accessories catalog. Maybe try the accessories pages of the HD web site, but I wouldn't hold too much hope for that. It seems that every second or thirdpart I try look up on it either isn't listed or is very hard to find for one reason or another.

is it rubbing on the fender or the bolt inside the fender, a 160 will fit under the stock fender, you need to take the bolts and turn them around so the head is on the inside of the fender and get some acorn nuts or something like that for the out side and that may stop the rubbing. (i have a 160 on my bike, on a wider rim and had to change the spacers a bit to light the stuff up)
