My new CrossBones runs great. Ive put Vance and Hines Bigshots, Power Commander, and Big Sucker Air Cleaner on it. It really pulls nice. I gotta tell you though, there is a large amount of mechanical noise coming from the engine. The engine runs so good, I dont think there is any impending doom with the motor, but man it sounds noisy in there. Kinda a clanging noise. The motor only has 480 miles on it and has already had it's first oil change. Does anybody else's new engine sound like a mousetrap motor?
My XBones is still stock and 530 miles, but I know when I put the SE K&N filter on my Ultra, the engine noise level came up 2-3X with the stock pipes. Then I put on the SE slipons and I couldn't hear the engine noise any longer. The bigger engine should make more noise so I would say that it is all ok, but wouldn't hurt to take by the dealer and let them listen to it. Jerry
My Bones had the usual "sewing machine" noise up front when I first bought it and it had factory exhaust. I putthe Hookers on and now all I hearis the sweet music of a deep, rumbling exhaust. I don't see how people leave their Harleys bone stock, because all you can hear is a bunch of constant engine noise.

+1 on the sewing machine sound when the bike was new. Maybe they quiet down a little bit asthings work and settle in.
I reckon I may be hearing the counterbalance mechanism as this is my first B motor Harley. If something were wrong, I dont think it would run as strong as it does.

You shouldn't hear the counterbalancers unless they are ready to depart the engine. Ron
