Anyone know a source for softail toolboxes, butin carbon fiber? I really don't want a bright chrome piece on a Night Train, and I don't think paint would hold up. http://www.bkrider.com/cross3/getIma...0&Size=250
How about black powder coating it?? I inquired about powder coating some chrome speaker housings, and I was told they would have to firstbe acid etched (if I remember correctly) to take the smoothness away and then powder coat it. He said there would be extra bucks to pre-etch the metal to prepare it for powder coating.
Thanks, but it appears that there is something special about the mounting for 2007-2008 (I have an '08), because those are valid for 84-06 only. Ditto in their 2008 catalog page. The HD catalog shows a different p/n for 2008 only. Weird.
I had both left & right side H-D tool boxes powder-coated black.
It's beginning to sound like that may be my only option (though I still think CF would look cool... and the contents would rattle less). Did you have to bead blast or chemically strip the chrome first?
I've gotten a bunch of stuff powdercoated for my bike and it really holds up. When I asked my guy what could be powdercoated he said 'anything that can withstand the heat of the oven'. I've had a couple of things that were chrome and taken them in for p.c. The sandblasting should be part of the cost of the work.
