Default Another Saddlebag Question

Has anyone with a Deluxe put Heritage type saddlebags on? Would they really interfere with the turn signals?

Thank you,

I guess I will find out. I just ordered the Heritage bag because the ones that they make for the deluxe is real small and doesn't hold anything.

The dealership saiys they will not work with the stock pipes but in my case that will not be a problem because I have changed the pipes to V&H LS which are lower than the stock pipes. The tail lights will be VERY close but worse case is that will have to change the tail lights to the ones that the heritage has.

Also, those bags look like crap after a year or so, so has anyone ever used the saggybags kit and if so, is it hard to do?? www.gotsaggybags.com

BarryN,

I have a Heritage but I believe the deluxe and the heritage are pretty close. I changed my light bar to the same one as you have on the Deluxe. Now they say that it won't work with stock Heritage bags but I have a quick release sissy bar on mine and with that hardware it pushes the bags out about a 1/4 inch or so. Plenty of room to clear the turn signals.

Also. If you go with the quick release system Barebacks for the saddle bags even without a quick release sissy bar that will push the bags out far enough to clear the turn signals on my Heritage. I should think the same for your Deluxe. I use barebacks so I know that for sure about them. Other quick release systems for the bags I don't know about.

I have also installed the gotsaggybags on my Heritage bags. Best to do it when they are brand new and no, it's not hard to do at all. Will take about an hour to do the two bags. A very worth while investment I think. Makes the bags look really good.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. The thing I don't like about the quick release is that it makes the bags come out further from the fender. IMO.

Am leaving for AZ bike week tomorrow and I know that saggybags will have a display there so I will pick up the kit.

Thanks

IMO not enough that it causes any uglies and I only put them on for long trips.

Received the bags and have not looked at the hardware but the Deluxe bags have a bracket on the bottom of the bagthat fit on the pipes. Don't see that bracket hole on the haritage bag.

Anyone one else installed these bags on a deluxe????

There is a bracket that comes off of the passenger foot pegs that the lower rod support on the heritage bag bolts to. You need that and you need the rubber bushing that goes between the bag support and the bracket off of the foot peg mount.
