about V&H BS Staggered on the deluxe is that they breathe heavily on the right side rear whitewall. I normally touch it up with some spot cleaning when I finish riding just because that's the only side that's dirty....not too many deluxes around yet; so the compliments keep rolling in about the whitewalls........but boy do they sound good. I didn't know what they sounded like with the regular baffles in until last weekend when someone asked me why mine were so deep and rumbling---QUIET BAFFLES
I know what you mean about keeping the wide whites.....white. I have the long shots which helps, but the break dust just drives me crazy.[:@] What do use on yours to keep them white? I use Simple Green full strength and a clean white terry cloth towel.
I clean mine in less than 5 min total using mr clean magic eraser!
Works great, costs about 50 cents each cleaning. Pad is $1 and I get 2 uses.
Hey, do those longs go past the rear tire? I am hoping to get them soon, but I have to park on a curb with a downhill slope, and I'm always bouncing the tire off it.
The wide white walls are hard to keep clean even without the V&H pipes. I just installed my Bigshot staggereds this weekend. Haven't had a chance to ride a lot yet due to the weather. One thing I was looking forward to was that the shorter pipes exposed more of the wheel and tire so cleanings would be easier. So I guess that's the trade off, easier to clean, just have to clean more often

That's a cool idea. I am forever washing the towels to keep them clean enough to use on the white walls. Will have to give it a try.
Anyway, the V&H Longshots go just past the white wall but it's enough to keep the carbon off them. Here's a link to a pic in my gallery that has a side shot so you can see the length:
I use bleach white----------but hell; I never thought of siimple green. I have cases of that stuff. Do you use wet cloth, rag with it---spray it on tire or on cloth, etc. I think I may try the eraser too. I've been told about that by several people. The guy who took my rear tire off so I could put the sprocket cover off used brake dust and grease remover. I guess there are a number of things that can be used.
I like the bleach white in the spray bottle because it cleans the entire tire and leaves it extremely clean---but the erasers would do better I think for the in between washings and "quick clean after a ride"
I never saw Mr Clean products over here.
But it looks like the dish washer sponge 'scotch brite'. What do you think of using that with simple green?
We also have a product over here that's called 'foaming svinto', some kind of steel wool with some detergent on that really foams then adding water.
I used that on an old bikes VERY yellowish dirty white wall tires I helped a friend to restore. And it worked very well. I don't think that it is good to use that kind of violent scrubbing to often though.
I used to use bleach white on my truck and it worked great but the fumes could kill a horse. I just use Simple Green full strength with a damp clean cloth. If the cloth is dirty at all it will leave streaks.[:@][:@]. The Mr. Clean sounds like it might be a better option. Gotta give it a try.
BTW - Are you all using a motorcycle jack? It will save the hell out of your back, especially cleaning the spokes. I got mine on sale at Sears for about 55 bucks. My bike is lowered about 2 inches so it's a little fun getting it on the jack to begin with. I have to drive it up on a couple of 2X4s to get the jack to slide under the bike.
I didn't think you rode that POS it is always so clean
